Women in Art: Great Artists Who Just Happen to Be Women 2026 Edition

"Recognizing and celebrating the contributions and presence of women making art, and women making GREAT ART, shouldn't have to be considered a feminist statement. Saying this all out loud is not a feminist statement, it is a humanist statement. There is even great debate about whether to say out loud that an artist is female; pointing it out can make it seem like one is giving extra kudos to a woman for accomplishing something. But with the significant absence of women's names from the written art history, museums, and galleries of the world, it is necessary now to celebrate and validate the eyes, hands, and voices of half the population of the art-making earth.  Recognition shouldn't be a radical request - but it has become a radical action."
